4th of july

THE LAKE, GRACE, AND CAKE

Here are some of my highlights from JULY—
(better late than never, right?)

Before heading up to Bear Lake for the 4th of July weekend I sent Mitch Man a package! He comes home from his mission July 26th of next year so I sent him a little package to celebrate one year down + one year to go!
It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since he left but I also can’t wait until I get to squeeze his cheeks again.
Right now he is serving high up in the canyons of Peru.
So dang pretty!

I had to work until midnight on the 3rd of July and then had to be AT work at 7 am on the 4th for a couple hours (to be in the Provo parade… no comment) so Will and I loved going up to the lake right after the parade to relax for a day.
I know I’ve said it before.. but Bear Lake is hands down my favorite place on this earth.
There’s nothing like going up there and having scarce phone service, playing games with my cousins, and eating lots of those famous Bear Lake raspberries.
Jensen’s birthday is also on the 4th of July! I make him a little coconut flag cake every year. I am still in denial “Baby” J is 15.
Him behind the wheel with his permit?? Ahhh. Nope.

I loved on Sunday in BL when my Poppy taught Will how to drive his tractor.
That thing is his prized possession!
A lot of swearing was involved from my German grandpa while teaching Will hahaha but we were laughing so hard and had a blast cruisin around.

July can’t pass without knowing you participated in Free Slurpee Day, right?!
(Will participated 3 times.. so.. there’s that)

Another huge highlight of July was when Will’s sweet little sis Grace returned home from her mission in Canada!
She was serving up in Nova Scotia so we loved giving her a WARM welcome home.
That poor girl had to shovel her entire car out of massive snow piles too many times to count.

I can’t quite say it was a highlight…
and not a lowlight because I am so happy for them..
SO a mediumlight of July was saying bye to one of my absolute best friends, Sarah.
Her husband Pete was accepted into Medical School in Tennessee so they packed their bags for good and headed out West!

We threw them a “DUNN WITH UTAH” BBQ before they left town and loved all being together on their last night in Utah.

Sarah and I were supposed to be college roommates at BYU.
Then at the last second she decided to go the U of U but we still stayed good friends nonetheless.
Everything worked out exactly the way it should have and I’m so thrilled we have stayed so close after all these years.
It was so so fun to have a best friend to work with too! We started working together a couple months ago and made a dang good team.

And alas one of the weddings we went to was a beautiful farmhouse wedding up at This is The Place in SLC!
That farmhouse is where Will asked me to Senior Prom.
The wedding had the most darling ferris wheel too!

If there’s anything I’ve learned in the month of July it’s that life sure is a wild ride! A lot of unexpected things have come up lately but I sure am glad I have this one by my side through it all.
