In my family, there’s only a certain amount of time that we can spend just lounging by the pool. After a couple hours, we are all a little stir crazy and are ready to go explore. We went on a catamaran ride one day to swim with fish + turtles, went on a hike that ended up being very frightening (got caught in a flash flood while in the water!), went to North Shore twice and also went to the huge Ala Moana mall. Magnolia bakery? Yes please.
Here’s a list of places we ate and loved-
1- Leonards in Honolulu. BEST Portuguese donuts. See previous Hawaii post to see what they looked like.
2- Seven Brothers (North Shore) We went two different times. Their location in Kahuku has the coconut shrimp but ALL of their burgers are amazing.
3- Banzai bowl (North Shore) I am SO happy I can eat fruit again! After so many stomach issues and tests, I can now have fruit sparingly. So this acai bowl was straight heaven for me.
4- Ted’s Bakery (North Shore) Chocolate Haupia pie
5- Willi Willi’s shaved ice (North Shore) WAY better than Matsumoto’s in my opinion.
6- Elephant Food Truck (North Shore) Probably my favorite meal of the ENTIRE trip. Best pad thai ever.
7-Magnolia Bakery at Ala Moana mall! Who knew!
8- Pressed Juicery My dad and I are huge fans of this place. Found one in Ala Moana mall and were thrilled about it.
We had so many other recommendations for food but so little time. On our family trips, my dad buys us one meal a day and we are on our own for the other meals. So we went to Costco and stocked up on groceries and made cereal and sandwiches when we were at the hotel. I am aching to go back already and try the other places people recommended to us!
