Woo! This Christmas season was one for the books! Right after we came home from Hawaii, I started a new job, started teaching Pilates (more on all of that later!), taught dance a lot a lot and squeezed some Christmas activities in here & there.

Christmas day we woke up to a seriously GIANT snowstorm. We couldn’t get out of our driveway in our cars so we put on our snow boots and trekked over to Will’s parents’ house to borrow their big car. You’d think Will and I would bite the bullet and get a bigger car by now… Anyways, we went back and forth between families all day long (7 times to be exact) but I wouldn’t have it any other way. The fact our parents live less than 2 miles apart makes it so easy to be to all of the activities! It was so wonderful to talk to Lucy too. Can’t believe she’s been on her mission for over 6 months now!

My absolute favorite Christmas tradition is always at my Diederich grandparents house. My grandpa makes the best german pancakes and it is a tradition I hope I will always make it to.

That night we flew out to NYC and I can’t wait to post pictures from that trip soon! Seriously best Christmas present EVER. My legs are still recovering from walking 13-16 miles every single day ?

Hope everyone had the best Christmas ever surrounded by people (and food) you love.

I will forever cherish these pictures we took in Oahu a couple weeks ago. Although I realize it’s a little silly to take family pictures when it’s still just Will and me, we haven’t had professional pictures taken since our wedding so I figured it was about time we had some taken. I’ve been obsessed with Heather’s work for the longest time and loved meeting up on the island to take some quick pictures together. She is the absolute sweetest and I’m in love with every single picture she sent us. Easily my favorite Christmas gift this season.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

In my family, there’s only a certain amount of time that we can spend just lounging by the pool. After a couple hours, we are all a little stir crazy and are ready to go explore. We went on a catamaran ride one day to swim with fish + turtles, went on a hike that ended up being very frightening (got caught in a flash flood while in the water!), went to North Shore twice and also went to the huge Ala Moana mall. Magnolia bakery? Yes please.

Hawaii Video

Hawaii 2016 from Olivia Gochnour on Vimeo.

Here’s another video from a family trip! I can’t help but laugh when people ask me if I am getting into videography. The answer is NO and, as you can tell, these videos are simply just sharing memories from our trip. I honestly think I might like my wedding video more than my photos! There’s something about seeing people’s reactions and personalities in real-time that I just love.

Enjoy!

This is what I call I JUST FINISHED THE LAST HARRY POTTER BOOK AND DON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH MY LIFE NOW. Also taking back all the horrible things I ever said about Professor Snape..

Willivia Hawaii 2016Willivia Hawaii 2016

This family trip to Hawaii is one I’ve looked forward to for almost a year now. My dad traded in one of his timeshares for Hawaii this year and told us if we paid for our flights we could stay with them. Will’s never been to Hawaii so as soon as we heard about it, it was a done deal! Especially during this time of our lives where we can travel without kids or other strict obligations (like school, etc.) it was a no-brainer.

On our first day, we went to church, Leonard’s (one of the BEST donuts I’ve ever had), drove over to Hanauma Bay, grabbed some groceries for the week, and then watched the sunset at our hotel. I needed a week of relaxation soo badly and loved spending some quality time with my family. Like I said, there is NOTHING better than a family trip! Memories I will cherish forever.

I have more pictures and of course a video coming soon! Just need to tackle my mounds of laundry first ?

Thanksgiving Break 2016

Thanksgiving week was simply the best. I am so grateful that we have time set aside to reflect on all our many blessings and surround ourselves with family for a couple days.

The night before we went up to Stein Eriksen to meet up with my mom’s side of the family, Lu had a sleepover at our house and it was the absolute greatest. We made Mac n’ Cheese, played music and watched her dance for hours on end, watched Mickey Mouse Christmas, drew pictures, jumped on the tramp and even stopped by the bakery to grab a cookie. That girl exemplifies JOY and I just love her to death.

I also loved waking up on Thanksgiving to a huge snow storm. Utah has had what feels like the longest fall alive so I loved finally playing in some snow! We had a Diederich family steak and crab fest again and I don’t think I’ll ever want to do Thanksgiving another way ever again.. I think we might be the only ones that aren’t crazy about a turkey dinner.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving surrounded by family or at least some delicious food. I feel grateful this year for so many things but wanted to take a second and say thank you to YOU guys. I receive amazing emails, nice comments (mostly ?), and I’ve loved getting to know some of you from this crazy little space on the web. Sometimes I have NO CLUE why I keep this space of mine up and runnin’ but I love it because of all of you. Thank you for following my crazy life!!

xoxo

I was so pleased with how many things we were able to squeeze in on our short trip. I felt like I saw (almost) everything I wanted to see and ate (almost) everything I wanted to eat.

Here’s a little list of places we ate:

-Ted’s Bulletin (pop-tarts!)

-Good Stuff Eater (burgers & shakes)

-Jettie’s (probably my favorite place we ate. BEST sandwiches)

-Baked & Wired (oatmeal cookies w/ blueberry ice cream)

-Founding Farmer’s  (so many people recommended this on my Instagram! Loved it)

-Seventh Hill Pizza (nutella calzone ?)

-Sweetgreen (their Harvest salad?! I need to recreate it asap)

I can’t tell you how much I LOVED the fact that all the museums were FREE and so accessible. Walking through the Holocaust museum, there is a tunnel that lists all the cities and communities that were affected by the war. I looked to the right and immediately saw KASSEL, the city where my grandpa Diederich lived during the war ❤️ I started crying immediately.

All in all, I absolutely loved our trip to D.C. We are hoping to go back soon… very soon! I was so nervous to be there during the election but I always felt safe and will never forget all of my experiences there.

D.C. temple

Little trip to DC! // Olivia Gochnour

Last week we spent a couple day in beautiful WASHINGTON D.C.!

My friend Sarah and her husband, Pete, moved to DC almost a year ago and we’ve been dying to visit them. We lucked out big time with the weather being so beautiful so we were able to go out and do/see A LOT.

We flew out Saturday night and when we arrived we went straight to church Sunday morning. It was quite the fight to stay awake haha! The rest of Sunday was spent eating homemade pop-tarts from Ted’s, walking to see some of the National monuments, eating homemade chilli, and driving out to see the D.C. LDS temple.

I’ve only been to D.C. once before while I was at a conference during high school for future doctors (yes, I wanted to be a doctor my ENTIRE life). It was so great to go back and do things I wasn’t about to tour last time since we mostly just toured the hospitals.  On Monday afternoon we toured the U.S. capitol building and it was INCREDIBLE. Especially with all the hype of the election going on! And yes, being in D.C. during the election was definitely an experience I will never forget.

More pics to come!

It’s 10pm here and I adjusted to Eastern Time a liiiiiiitle too quickly ?

Goodnight!

Halloween 2016

Halloween 2016

Halloween 2016

Fall in Utah this year has been truly UNBELIEVABLE. The weather has been so incredible and I feel like I was able to accomplish all the seasonal events I anticipated. This year for Halloween, we pulled off all our costumes in five minutes time without spending a dime so I’d deem it a success!

Friday evening we went to a party at our friend’s cabin up in Sundance. If you ever come to the area, make sure you mark Sundance on your to-see list. It has quickly become one of my favorite areas in Utah!

Halloween 2016

Halloween 2016

The forecast for Saturday morning looked so warm so I decided it was only logical we went on a morning hike. I can probably count on my fingers how many more days we have of warm(er) weather here so we are definitely soaking up every second we can.

Halloween 2016

If you follow me on Snapchat & Instagram you probably saw snaps of the Harry Potter party we went to Saturday evening (apologies for snapping every inch of that party, it was seriously so incredible)! Our friends throw it every year and this was the first year we were able to attend. All proceeds from the party went to charity and it was definitely a night to remember. They raised $4,000! The host posted the battle on his Instagram so you should check it out. And yes, those are roman candles ?

Halloween 2016

And on actual Halloween, we went out to see Luella go trick-or-treating. She was skeptical about the whole idea of knocking on other people’s doors by herself… but as soon as she saw the fact that she got free candy out of it, she was SOLD!

Halloween 2016
Halloween 2016

Previous to Halloween she traded off between wanting to be Elsa, a duck, and a dinosaur, but boy we are we thrilled she decided to go with the duck. Is she not the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?!

Halloween 2016

Starting taking handfuls of candy at everyhouse sooooo…

Halloween 2016

Halloween 2016

And then we went to a friends party after Luella went down to bed. And yes… Will and I are each other.

Hope your Halloween was safe + wonderful!

Can you believe Thanksgiving is so soon??

Our Anniversary was Grand

Grand Anniversary

I still can’t believe we just celebrated THREE years of being married. Three!

Last year, we babysat over our anniversary so I knew I really wanted to make this year special. We’ve been wanting to close a credit card for awhile now but I wanted to use the points we’d accumulated first. We had exactly enough points for a night stay at The Grand America and it was the perfect getaway for us.
