AMSTERDAM!

here we are!
diederich family trip 2014!
everyone is here except for will… so sad!
he has his finals this week at the U and it just didn’t work with our schedules so he is left at home in the good old SLC…
we facetime everywhere possible haha. the train, the restaurants, the hotels.
if i have wifi, you bet i am facetiming will!

we flew from slc to detroit and then a straight shot to amsterdam!
amsterdam really is the most beautiful place.
there are tons of river ways, people on bikes and trees.. EVERYWHERE!
jensen got off the plane and then bragged
“i didn’t sleep a wink on that airplane ride!!”
which was definitely NOT the goal.
when we arrived, it was 5 a.m. in Amsterdam.. so the picture above was jensen dying all day with his jetlag.

jensen is studying anne frank in school right now so her house was a must-see.
extra credit for j: check!

it was so neat to see the actual moving bookshelf that hid the annex where her and her family hid during WWII.
she’s the cutest.

this guy floats around singing “what a wonderful world”
only problem: how do you tip him?!

CARNIVAL CHURROS: SPEECHLESS!
speechless again…

DO YOU REMEMBA

(if you know why I titled this post the way I did you are officially my favorite person)

A part of me is literally jaw dropped that it is already September 21st.
I mean, HOW in the world did one of my all-time favorite months just zoom by so quick?!
There are NO words.
This month has been full of plenty ups and downs
the ups:
+ weddings every weekend
+ babysitting 5 adorable children
+finally going up Provo Canyon one morning with Karli
+ my little brother making the role of Nathan in Savior of the World!!!
+ baking everything pumpkin
+seeing the leaves change
+ listening to Mindy Kaling’s audiobook on my way to work (giant LOL the entire time)
+ going on late night walks with friends
+ our wedding video finally arriving. only took 11 months….
the downs:
– seeing Will a total of approximately 4 hours the entire week
– working 50 hour weeks
– a trip to the Primary Children’s ER with one of the kids we were babysitting
– getting zero sleep
– severe stomach pains
– someone running into my car and not leaving a note
Even though there are always plenty of downs in life… i can’t help but hope for the positive in each day.
Especially in my favorite season.
Football, wedding and Fall season!
Here are some little iPhone pics from September:
I had to document this.
EVERY TIME we go to Anthropologie I can always find Will in the SAME spot.
That spot to the left of all the registers?
Or on the couch by the cooking books…. That’s a favorite spot as well.
Anyone else’s husband do this?? HA. Kills me.

Sarah’s bachelorette party in P.C.
Love my cousin, Kate!

That very sought after wedding video.

CHALK THE BLOCK was outside of one of my work spaces last week.
Seriously how did I get zero artistic ability?
If I was artistic I would chalk errrrryday.

Stillllll obsessed with doormats.

And pumpkin anything.

Since work was been so hectic lately we decided we were in dire need of a relaxing morning.
So golfing it was!

And another relaxing morning up Provo Canyon with Kar Kar.
Seriously one of my absolute favorite places on earth.
Especially with the leaves changing!
Do I talk about leaves changing too much?
Yep. Sorrrrry!!!
But not.

Meet Jacob & James.
The cutest little 8 month old and 10 month old around town.

This pulls at my heart strings every single time.

Aaaand then we spent Friday night here.
Yay for trampolines!
The family we babysat hated the University of Utah……
#sarcasm
Also, it made my day that when we went over to my moms for Sunday dinner she had all the ingredients to make my favorite Halloween Muddy Buddies from my last blog post.
Love you Mama!
Thanks for being a faithful reader
(probably the only one. but you’re the best so i’m not mad)

TEMPORARY PARENTHOOD

willivia
okay so first off let me just say is she not the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?
meet castine.
my newest and cutest best friend.
the past 10 days have been some of the most memorable days of our life!
Will and I babysat 5 kids for ten days while their parents traveled down to Machu Pichu and we had the best of times.
willivia
we couldn’t really complain that we were living in the most gorgeous home with 5 of the best behaved kids!
we were so busy everyday but loved playing soccer in the backyard, driving carpools, making oreo cake bites, using our ice powers (frozen, duh), chalking in the driveway, going to kindermusik, soccer games, school musicals, ice cream trips and much much more!
willivia
oh and having a wash room wasn’t too shabby either.
we don’t have a washer/dryer in our cottage so we LOVED being able to finally do our own laundry!
willivia
we went to the wizard of oz one night and castine was able to meet dorothy!
she was a little starstruck…
her sister, jordan, was the wicked witch and she made sure everyone in the audience knew she really didn’t melt!!
“she is still alive everybody, don’t worry!!!”

willivia
we watched frozen and the croods approximately 293803219 times
and occasionally i would find her watching our wedding video hahaha. she loved it!
willivia
my parents have the most perfect kid-friendly backyard so we spent lots of fun days swimming and being “ariel”

willivia
willivia
willivia
OKAY WHAT DO WE DO ABOUT THIS ^^^^
willivia
we even drove all the way down to provo to wish eat the best pizza (slab) and wish my two best friends a happy 22nd birthday!

willivia

willivia
willivia
how pretty are they ^^

willivia
and then lets not forget about all of our easter festivities!!
willivia
lots of fun craft nights in their craft room

i loved everything about being temporary parents.
i loved how busy we were, how dependent they were on us, our 3 year-old saying the sweetest night-time prayers, getting the 4-1-1 on all the jr. high drama, and the endless festivities that come alongside a busy family home.
here’s to my first night without this angel by my side!!
fall

HALLOWEEN MUDDY BUDDIES

I must admit… Muddy Buddies might be one of my favorite desserts of all time.
Road trip snack? Muddy buddies
Late night snack? Muddy buddies
Girls night in college? Muddy buddies
They are always my go-to!
Right now Will and I are babysitting these 5 adorable little kids while they are parents are in Chicago. Their uncle passed away in a motorcycle accident 10 years ago from yesterday so I thought we needed to drop by a little treat to their cousins to show them we were thinking about them.
While I immediately thought of muddy buddies… I thought why not make them into a fun Halloween mix. Given that Halloween is the best holiday and is right around the corner!!
eeeeek… i’m too excited
so we added:
reese’s pieces
candy corn mix
pretzels

here are your ingredients needed:
9 cups of Rice Chex Cereal
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup butter
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 boxes of Reese’s pieces
2 cups pretzels (we used Glutino’s! the best pretzels that just so happen to be gluten-free)
2 bags of candy corn (we used one regular and one assorted with the cute pumpkins)
instructions:
in a microwave safe bowl melt butter, peanut butter and chocolate chips together.
microwave for 1 minute, take out and stir, microwave for another 30 seconds, take out and stir.
add vanilla.
pour melted mixture over the 9 cups of rice Chex cereal
mix together with two spatulas
from the bowl, scoop the cereal into a Ziploc bag and toss in the powdered sugar
shake it up so powdered sugar is all over cereal
pour back into a big bowl and add your Halloween mix-ins!

hope you enjoy!

#passporttoprovo

it’s not everyday that you break a world record…
approximately 2 months ago, a couple co-workers and I sat around a table and started brainstorming ways we could thank Provo for letting us be one of the first cities Google Fiber came to.
we decided we wanted to break a world record with Provo
(ya know.. just to add to their growing list of achievements the past couple of years)
so “Passport to Provo” it was.
we attempted to achieve the WORLDS LARGEST SCAVENGER HUNT.
after hours upon hours of preparation our event finally debuted last Saturday.

The best helpers!
Will helped me from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m. with NO complaining.
oh goodness I love him more and more every single day.

Obviously Jensen loved “volunteering”

Meet Annie from Guinness!

the University of Chicago was the last city to attempt to break this record with 924 participants but we came ringing in at 2,079 participants!!!
talk about success!
we were so happy.

MY BEST FRIENDS WEDDING

Last week was seriously one of the best weeks of my life.
Sarah has been one of the greatest friends of mine for over 4 years and her and Peaches (Pete) finally made it official on Friday!
Sarah and I were supposed to live in the dorms together Freshman Year at BYU but after much deliberation she decided to go to the U of U to be with her siblings (she’s from Tennessee).
I was heartbroken thinking that we wouldn’t be friends if she went to the U but we are still going strong!
She is one of the nicest, most sincere humans you will ever meet.
On Tuesday, I was lucky enough to escort her through her endowment session. It was a night i will never forget. We seriously had so much fun together and it was so special for us to be together!
On Thursday the wedding festivities finally begun!
We checked in to the Grand America downtown and celebrated Sarah’s birthday all together!
Her mom & fiancé brought all of her favorite things to the pool so we sat poolside with some chick-fil-a, banbury cross donuts, swig cookies & Nielsen’s frozen custard as we celebrated her and relaxed before the wedding dinner began.
How darling are the rooms are the Grand America?
Seriously the most charmed hotel around.

The wedding dinner was absolutely perfect.
Cubby’s catered so obviously I was in absolute food coma heaven!
The cute bride to be/birthday girl!
We all slumbered together the night before the wedding in our matching p.j.’s and celebrated the last night of Sarah’s single life!

My favorite part of the entire weekend was when I woke up at 6:20 a.m. on Friday morning to Sarah saying she wanted to go on a run with me to start off her wedding day.
She was too excited her special day was finally here and couldn’t sleep any longer!
I loved running around the bare streets of downtown Salt Lake together freaking out with her that the day had finally arrived!

Her sealing on Friday was so special and her dress reveal left us all SPEECHLESS!
She hadn’t told any of us/shown any of us what her dress looked like and we all couldn’t move i swear. How flawless is she???
and Pete. you’re good lookin too!

Their wedding reception was up at Sundance Resort up Provo canyon.
Sarah & Pete’s first date together was skiing together, he proposed to her skiing, so it was only fitting to have their reception at a ski resort!
It was at the most darling little barn tucked in to the mountains and the fact all the leaves had changed made it THAT much better.
We all drove up to Sundance, checked into our darling little cabin hotels in the mountains and started getting ready for pictures!

Don’t even get me started on how amazing the dance party was. We literally all danced until we couldn’t move anymore! For hours and hours on end.

This is Karl.
My other BF.

And to cap it all off there was a private screening of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid after the reception in the private screening room.
Will got to sit in Robert Redford’s favorite seat!
Talk about the BEST wedding for my best friend! Right?
Now all I want to do is make these biscuits they gave as their wedding favors and read a big long book.
After the 21st of September I am hoping I can make that possible.
If I can survive this coming week I can survive ANYTHING.
Here we go!!
Please send positive vibes my way.

SIBLING LOVE

it’s national sibling day!
if you know me, you know i love these made-up holidays.
i’m all about them.

so here’s a little tribute to them!

first we have eliza loo.

eliza is my twin and role model.
she danced. i danced.
she went to byu. i went to byu.
 she was on cougarettes.
 i was on cougarettes.
she wanted to run a half marathon.
i ran a half marathon with her.
 she loves food.
 i love food.
it just works, ya know?
i loved living in provo and have everyone refer to me as “eliza’s little sister”.
that was a title i will always be proud of!
she is the best wife and i love having josh as my new sibling!josh is one of the most intelligent people i know and is a perfect fit in the diederch fam!
will loves having josh as a brother-in-law

secondly is none other than THE isabella diederich.
THE bella in berlin.
what life would be like to be isabelle…

bella is quite possibly the most talented writer and genuinely gifted person i know.
being born only 17 months apart, we have had a unique opportunity to be in the same groups of friends all growing up and i feel forever blessed by that.
to have a best friend and sister in the same group of friends?
what more could a girl want.
she has a special gift with handicapped people and is that person that goes out of her way to be friendly to the people that need it most.
she is that sister that knocks on my door at 8:33 a.m. to hand me a fresh donut from the store across the street.i think i’ll keep her!

next up! mitchy mitch.
don’t you love those people who are younger than you yet you still look up to them a ton?
that’s mitchell for you.
he is a senior in high school at olympus high yet he isn’t afraid to go hug my mom at a basketball game in front of his whole school, he isn’t afraid to stand up in seminary and bare his testimony, and he isn’t afraid to be himself and not change that for anyone.
he is so sensitive and loving regardless of his age.
we keep on waiting for his teenage years to come where he is a little punk but it hasn’t quite come yet..
and peru here he comes! august 12th.i’m gonna be a biiiig wreck when he leaves so mark your calendars if you want to come over and watch movie comedies with me and eat ice cream tub by tub.

last but not least, meet jensen.
the funniest  boy in the world.
the boy who we still call baby j.
the boy who wore nike socks to my wedding…..
jensen is everyone’s favorite boy. he is the first to make light of any situation, crack a joke and will never ever ever get mad at anyone.
i’m serious!
he gets sad.. but NEVER mad.
i love that boy than words can say.
if you want to see the cutest munchkin in all the land come to olympus jr. high’s production of wizard of oz.
that boy can sing and act like no other.so here’s to the best group of siblings a girl could ask for.

happy made up holiday!

WHY AM I OBSESSED WITH WEDDINGS

but really,
why am i so obsessed with weddings?
literally every aspect of weddings i’m in love with!
whether it’s the bridal showers, the invitation, the bachelorette party, the bridesmaid outfit, the sealing, the ceremony, the reception, the send-off..
i love it all!
on august 30th, my cute cousin Grace married the boy of her dreams, Timmy!

for her bachelorette party two nights before, we all went to Cafe Trio and then to Sarah’s pool house for games, gifts, mocktails and some (slightly inappropriate) chats!

then the actual wedding day was just a dream!
beautiful weather. happiest couple. and stunning reception!
how gorgeous is temple square right now?

i mean HOW perfect are they?!
THERE ARE NO WORDS
